PDFs in a time capsule

ISO 19005-1 Document Management - Electronic document file format for long-term preservation, Part 1: Use of PDF 1.4 (PDF/A-1), p. 11 states that font subsetting is permissable as long as "glyph definitions for all characters" are referenced within the file. And — as if file size is important for archival purposes — further notes that indeed the filesize of the PDF will be smaller when fonts are subset…

I wonder…

Will font technology remain the same over the next 100 years? Can a PDF created today indeed be printed on a printer 100years from now as long as the relevant glyph defintions are included?

Unfortunately I will not be around to check that… :-(
