International English

By Cari Jansen | June 22, 2007

You’ve installed Creative Suite 3, live in Australia or New Zealand or another non US-English speaking country around the world using the metric system instead of Imperial measurements system and are wondering why when you launch a new InDesign document your default page size is set to Letter? default Language is set to English USA and default units of measurements is set to picas?

There is an English (International) language option available during the CS3 Install that is easily missed during installation, as the language defaults to English and you’d think that would be it…

CS3 Installer International English selection

Well, next time you (re)install your CS3, click the drop down menu for language selection and change the default English selection to English (International), and you’ll be pleasantly surprised to see your default page size jump to A4, dictionary jump to English UK and units of measurements jump to millimetres. :)
