About Me

Cari Jansen is an Adobe Certified Instructor (ACI), Member of Adobe Influencer (AU/NZ) and Training Partner Programs,  Print and Electronic publishing consultant, technical writer, public speaker and the founder & Chapter Representative of the Perth InDesign User Group.

Cari brings knowledge, experience and excitement about creative and publishing technologies to any organisation:

  • In the role of Adobe Certified Instructor (Adobe InDesign, Acrobat, Illustrator and Photoshop), bringing your staff up to speed with the latest tools and tricks in Adobe applications, assisting with transition processes, such as moving print publications to electronic media (EPUB, Digital Magazine publishing, Adobe DPS). She’s recently launched here own digital magazine for iPad called Latitude3195.
  • As an experienced Technical Writer, developer of user documentation and tailored learning materials for your organisation.
  • As a speaker at one of your events: conferences, seminars, webinars, corporate workshops.
  • As an independent consultant helping you manage & map the path of your publishing future, assisting with production processes (template creation, print to EPUB conversion, building your first digital magazine for iPad or Android tablets etc.).

Background information

Cari has over the past 15 years build a great relationship with the Design, Print, Publishing industry, Government and Corporate community in Australia and abroad.  She also continues to volunteer her time and expertise with her blog-posts, tweets and online tutorials and work for the InDesign User Group community. She is passionate about creative software and evolving technologies, in particular  Adobe applications and has a special interest in preservation of digital records, publishing workflow automation, EPUB, Accessibility,  XML and other geeky stuff.

Cari holds a BSc in Communication and Information Technology and is an expert in number of Adobe applications including Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Starting her career in the early 1980s as compositor, reproduction photographer and neg.prep/imposition-specialist in the Netherlands, Cari first became familiar with Adobe software during the change-over to digital desktop publishing systems in the late 1980s. She completed studies in conventional prepress technologies (compositing, reproduction photography) as well as prepress and print management (specialising in order management, marketing and product planning).

Prior to migrating to Australia in October 1995, Cari worked as prepress manager for a graphic design / printing firm in the Rijswijk, the Netherlands. She has since completed her Certificate IV in Workplace Training  and Assessment, over 17 Adobe Certification exams and a Communication and Information Technology degree, with a major in Records Management and Computer Science electives.

In April 2010, Cari returned to running her own professional services business after 3-years with Typefi Systems working as their Senior Solutions Consultant servicing Australian and European accounts. She continues to specialise in Adobe software training, public speaking and publishing consultancy.

Prior her recruitment to Typefi Systems, Cari ran her own successful professional services business for more than 11 years. Developing unique course materials, delivering training with a focus on onsite and customised training delivery, assisting many organisations with PageMaker/QuarkXPress to InDesign transitions and delivering workshops and seminars for Adobe Systems and Mogo Media throughout Australia.

When Cari’s not working, blogging or tweeting you will find her out and about, swimming, walking, hanging with friends at the mall, shopping, at the movies, going out for a meal, planting something new in the garden, or on the couch at home reading a book or chatting (Skype/Facebook) with friends and family around the world.
